Jake + Jean

A breath of fresh air...

While on a hike with my husband, we turned a corner to find a desert plateau in full wildflower bloom amongst the green of the California mountains, and I instantly flashed on a vision for a shoot here.  Jumping on the opportunity, the next day, after hiking 2.5 miles back to that same spot, my two models and I arrived to bring that flash of a vision to life. As luck would have it, magic ensued; waning light, layers of mountains, hazey pink skies, golden sun, and two incredible souls that I feel lucky to know.  Squeezing out every ounce of light, we barely made it back to our cars before it was pitch dark out, but it was worth every minute.

Take a glance at the magic of Jake + Jean...

Michael

Who says headshot sessions have to be painful?  When you mix in a dose of "lifestyle" and take the pressure off, you would be amazed at how much fun you might end up having during your session.  Not to mention, you walk away with photos to create your portfolio, build a website, use for comp cards and social media, etc... Take a look at my play time with NYC dancer Michael as we hit the streets of Brooklyn for his "performer plus" session:

Prospect Dance

"It is awe inspiring to witness the ability of a dancer to elongate a moment.  A true artist suspends your belief; they can actually stop time."
Tension and release - I am constantly seeking the simultaneous use of the body in my shots.  The ease of being present and connecting to the breath, followed by the tension of intention and awareness.  This is the duality I seek when working with my dancers.  Dancers: Kei Tsuruharatani and Jennifer Gruener

Movement and line - Where do they connect in the plain of a public park, or outdoor space.  How can we connect to the  architecture and structure of a space. w/ Jennifer Gruener

Special thanks to my collaborators and dancers Jennifer Gruener and Kei Tsuruharatani
