Karis

Pasadena, CA

I decided to finally post this sweet + sunny session on this rainy day today, one of my favorite family shoots yet.  I met up with Kristin, Brandon and their daughter Karis to celebrate her first birthday.  With a beautiful cake, warm weather, and perfect styling by Kristin herself, it was a wonderful story to capture.  Not to mention the addition of Grandma and sister to complete the family fun.  So much love...

Winter Wonder

Central Park, NY

that time we met in the park...

There is nothing quite like shooting in the snow. The conditions around you are constantly changing, like this scene for instance.  A perfect winter wonderland, every tree covered in a blanket of white, and then poof, gone within the two hours of shooting. Such fleeting beauty and a perfect challenge (as the snow melts on your subject and your camera).  Working with the balance of white bounce (as there is a lot of it), finding pops of color (the green vest), or contrasting imagery (the black umbrella) to that snowy backdrop, and lastly finding softer frames that blend the backdrop and subject beautifully.  Here are a few of my favorites from our outing in the Park...

Risa

Union Square, NYC

When Risa, host of Inconvenient Interviews on Hello Giggles approached me to collaborate on a shoot, I was super excited to scheme up a plan with her.  Hilarious, beautiful and witty, I knew we were going to get some gems as we settled on the Union Square Farmer's Market for our location.  We lucked out with a glorious warm Autumn morning and perfect light, which made everything, including Risa, glow as we flitted about the market.  With lots of laughter, squirrels, and new friends along the way, the photos capture a glimpse of the many sides of this incredible lady.  Check Risa out on Hello Giggles as she interviews celebs in "Inconvenient Interviews w/ Risa" - This lady rocks... watch out world!

Special thanks to The River Garden at the Union Square Farmer's Market for providing the most beautiful flowers and display.  Go check them out! (mon/wed/fri/sat)
