Old Hollywood meets New York City

Donna, a woman of incredible talent, impressed me from the the first day I met her while we were working out in Utah at the majestic Tuacahn Amphitheater.  With wit, beauty, vulnerability and humor, she is a stunning actress and has a voice that can do wonders.  She is about to be one of the first actresses to take on the iconic (to say lightly) character Elsa of the famed Disney film Frozen out in California.  With so much range and opportunity ahead of her, we sought to capture her timeless nature within the playground of New York City.

Of course the day we set about to shoot, a snowstorm hit NYC.  I've found that when the unexpected occurs, the best work often results because you have to think on your feet and really get creative in the moment.  Figuring out how to make the snow work for us and finding unexpected shoot locations, this photo session quickly became one of my favorite NY moments.

Winter Wonder

that time we met in the park...

There is nothing quite like shooting in the snow. The conditions around you are constantly changing, like this scene for instance.  A perfect winter wonderland, every tree covered in a blanket of white, and then poof, gone within the two hours of shooting. Such fleeting beauty and a perfect challenge (as the snow melts on your subject and your camera).  Working with the balance of white bounce (as there is a lot of it), finding pops of color (the green vest), or contrasting imagery (the black umbrella) to that snowy backdrop, and lastly finding softer frames that blend the backdrop and subject beautifully.  Here are a few of my favorites from our outing in the Park...
